Nominate a Role Model!
Recognize a Greek Woman for her Inner Beauty
Is she… Selfless, a Scholar, Genuine, a Leader, a Friend ?
Why is she a Role Model?
The Panhellenic Association strives to instill confidence in women across our community and to emphasize beauty in our actions and character. The Be Beautiful Campaign was established to promote this ideal and to cause awareness for important women’s issues
- Panhellenic is looking for 2 women from your chapter who are Role Models
- Email us why your sister exemplifies inner beauty by Friday March 19 (romeoaa@dukes.jmu.edu)
- Her accomplishments will be showcased at our 1st annual ROLE MODEL FASHION SHOW on April 6, 2010
- This doesn’t have to be long, we just want to know why our Greek Women are amazing!
Panhellenic is looking for 2 women per chapter who represent what it means to exemplify inner beauty. We are asking for nominations for representatives from your chapter who are seen as role models for the Panhellenic and Harrisonburg communities. If you wish to nominate a sorority woman please write a letter of recomendation and e-mail it to the Panhellenic Association at romeoaa@dukes.jmu.edu . This short paragraph COULD include any of the following: how this woman portrays your chapter values, lives their ritual daily, is academically stimulated, involvement in and outside the chapter, shows interest in the community and portrays inner beauty. This submittions are due March 19th. The two women from each chapter will not only be recognized at a Panhellenic General Body meeting but also be in the “Be Beautiful” fashion show that takes place April 6th. Again anyone can nominate the woman of her choice and the decision does not have to be voted on by the chapter. Thank you for helping advocate the “Be Beautiful” campaign and for recognizing the amazing women that make up the Panhellenic community.

Kiss a Senior Goodbye
On April 28th at the Panhellenic General Body meeting we will be recognizing seniors from each sorority. We will have slides for each senior you wish to recognize (or all of them!). You will get to make a cute slide with pictures so we can all see how wonderful these women were and how much they have done for our communitiy. Each slide costs $1 and all of the money goes to First Step, the Panhellenic Philanthropy. If you wish to purchase a slide, contact your Panhellenic delegate.

Kristin’s Story
Panhellenic presents speaker Andrea Cooper and “Kristin’s Story”

MONDAY, MARCH 23rd
7:00 PM: Festival Highlands Room
Kristin’s Story is a mother’s tale of her daughter’s rape and subsequent suicide. A vibrant 20-year-old Alpha Chi Omega, Kristin, committed suicide shortly after she was raped by a friend in 1995. Her Tri Delta mother Andrea Cooper made the difficult decision to share her daughter’s tragedy with college students all over the nation.
“I am sharing this because I hope by telling Kristin’s story that other lives will be saved, and other young women will not be victims of acquaintance rape, and that those suffering from depression, for ANY reason, will get help,” Andrea explains.

Our Mission
Welcome to James Madison University’s Panhellenic Association’s first ever Campaign!
The Panhellenic Association of James Madison University is hosting its first ever “Be Beautiful Campaign”–a self confidence campaign for women across our chapter, campus and community.
Our mission is to educate women on important and relatable topics and to engage in conversations and discussions about our experiences as college women. We also aim to provide events, activities, and speakers promoting self confidence and encouraging women to “be beautiful” in their life actions and decisions. Our hope is that by promoting inner beauty, women will be more aware of the negative stereotypes and hypocrises in the media and rise above that stigma and be proud of who they are as a person–beautiful inside and out!
